I am not an Episcopalian. Can I receive Holy Communion in your Church?
In the Episcopal Church, we believe that all Christians, including children, are welcome to share in Holy Communion each week at God's table. If you are unable to come forward to the Altar but would like to receive Communion or a blessing, please let an usher know. The priest will bring Communion to you in your seat.
I live in the area and am planning a wedding. Can I get married at your Church?
We welcome newcomers wishing to be married at Emmanuel Episcopal Church; however, it is the priest and congregation's hope that the couple planning to be married are already members or have the intention of becoming involved as preparation begins. The priest will invite the couple into a time of preparation, ideally for some months in advance of the wedding day. For more information, please see A Word on Weddings and Baptisms.
I have young children. Do you have nursery care and Christian Education programs?
Yes. Emmanuel offers professionally staffed child care beginning at 9:30 a.m. on Sundays during the regular school year for children under age 3 and is available until 11:45 a.m., so that parents may attend Coffee Hour after the service. Our nursery provider works at a local child care center; references are available upon request.
We offer Christian Education programs for both adults and children. Church School for children aged 3 through 2nd grade begins at 10:00 a.m. with an age-appropriate chapel service in the parish hall. The children (including those in the nursery) join with the congregation for Holy Communion each week. Church School follows the traditional school schedule, beginning in September and ending in June.
Additional adult education programs are offered several times per year on varying topics over the course of several weeks or months.
