Canterbury Children's Center
Canterbury Children’s Center is a non-profit, non-denominational child care center established in 1966 by Emmanuel Episcopal Church, committed to serving the diverse needs of young children and their families. The Center, located on site at 5 Bryant Street, is concerned with the growth and development of the whole child: social and emotional, physical and intellectual. The environment and curriculum are planned for children to delight in exploring their worlds and to establish positive self-concepts for learning and loving. The staff at Canterbury is hired not only for their experience and education but also for their professionalism and ability to relate to children. The Center, which is fully accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC), is a well-known and well-respected educational program in Wakefield and surrounding communities, providing affordable nursery school and day care to local families. Members of Emmanuel Episcopal Church receive a 5 percent tuition discount. Financial aid is also available to families demonstrating need.
Canterbury Children’s Center offers a variety of traditional preschool programs (5-day — 8:30 to 11:30 a.m., 3-day — 8:30 to 11:30 a.m., or 2-day — 8:30 to 11:30 a.m.) But, unlike most local church-affiliated preschools, we uniquely meet the needs of working families by providing full-time, year-round child care starting at 7:30 a.m. and ending at 6 p.m. every day, even during summer and school vacation weeks. Scholarships are offered to families with limited financial resources.

A non-refundable enrollment fee is required to save your child’s placement in the Center for the school year.
