Advent Quiet Day: Cosmic Mystery, Human Family
Saturday December 7, 9am-2:30pm
Emmanuel Episcopal Church invites the local community to a special Advent Quiet Day retreat on Saturday, December 7, from 9:00 AM to 2:30 PM.
The event, titled "Cosmic Mystery, Human Family" will be led by Br. Lain Wilson, a professed Brother of the Society of Saint John the Evangelist (SSJE).
This retreat offers an opportunity to slow down and engage with the profound mystery of the Advent season. Reflecting on the eternal Word of God entering creation and taking on human flesh, participants will explore how we, as Christ’s family, can prepare a spiritual home for His coming. Through scripture, sensory experiences, and reflection on themes like humility, spaciousness, wilderness, and patience, attendees will delve deeper into their spiritual journey.
Br. Lain Wilson brings a wealth of experience in spiritual direction, retreat leadership, and preaching. Originally from Lexington, Kentucky, Br. Lain joined SSJE in 2022 after working for a research institute in Washington, DC. The Society of Saint John the Evangelist is a monastic community within the Anglican Communion, rooted in ancient traditions and committed to sharing an authentic experience of God's love in today's world.
This Quiet Day promises to be a rich time of reflection and prayer for anyone looking to deepen their spiritual preparation during the Advent season. All are welcome to attend
