What is Realm? Realm is a software tool that helps churches use technology to enhance their ministries in many ways. Emmanuel purchased this software last year, and we are now ready to roll it out to YOU.

Why Realm? Emmanuel began looking for options to support the work of running a church last year. From research done by the Technology Committee and others, as well as recommendations received from the diocese and other Episcopal parishes, Realm emerged as the best and most cost effective tool available.

How can Realm help Emmanuel? Realm can help Emmanuel move into the 21st century with tools to make work easier and more efficient for our Rector, our Parish Administrator and many of our committees and service groups. Tools include:

An online parishioner profile

The ability to write and view notes for pastoral care

The ability to track donations, bequest and memorials
-
An online parish directory, allowing members to connect with one another

The ability to track annual stewardship pledges and progress toward meeting pledging goals

Volunteer and Committee participation
-
A scheduling tool for liturgical volunteers

The capability to ensure that data privacy needs are being met

How is my data managed and how can I be sure it's not subject to a breach or data-mining? Realm provides some additional documentation showing how data is managed within our faith community as well as within its data centers.

What do I do when I receive an email invitation to join Realm?
-
Click on the link in the email

Set up your login ID and password using the criteria provided

Log in!

What do I do after I am logged in?
-
You should find yourself at the Realm home page.

In the upper right corner of the screen should be your name
-
Click on the down carrot to the right of your name, to see a dropdown menu
-
Under MY PROFILE VIEWS, click on Realm (or Connect if Realm is not available). Realm and Connect are 2 modules within the Realm software package. The upper left of the screen will tell you which module you are in.

You should now be on your profile page.

From here (in Connect), you can:
-
Edit your Profile. Click on the ‘Edit Profile’ button to start. Within your Profile are 2 tabs – Contact Information and Personal information. Fill in as many fields as possible. When finished, click on Save.

Manage Privacy settings. For most of us, the settings have been defaulted to allow anyone with access to the Directory to view Contact information and only Administrators to view Personal information

INFO is information about You. It includes Contact information and Personal information

Privacy setting for Info are defaulted to:

Contact information can be seen by Anyone in the Church
-
Personal information can only be seen by ‘Users with permission only’ (administrators)

You are welcome to change privacy settings for yourself if you are not comfortable with the defaults. This can be done by clicking on ‘Privacy’ above your Contact information

To add or update your Contact or Personal information, click on ‘Edit’ above your Contact Information. Although only emergency Contact details are required, we are encouraging everyone to add as much other information to this section as possible. There is some demographic information here, as well as space for Interests and Skills. You are also welcome to upload a photo of yourself. When finished adding information, click on ‘Save’ at the top of the page

GROUPS will list the current Committees that you are a member of. It will also note if you are a Leader of any group or if you are a ‘User with Responsibilities’. Leaders and Users with Responsibilities have additional access rights in Realm related to working with your group. More details will be provided to those who are impacted by this.

This section will include Stewardship, Gifts, bequests, etc. in the future. It is currently in development.

This section will include registrations for upcoming events – currently in development

SERVING TEAMS

Serving Teams will also be added to this section in the future – this includes acolytes, lectors, litanists, ushers, streaming coordinators, choir and counters.

THAT’S IT! You are welcome to explore the functions of Realm that are available to you. In Connect, you should be able to view the Church Directory, by Selecting Directory on the menu on the left side of the screen. More functions will be rolled out soon

CONNECT: Our subscription to Realm also comes with the CONNECT tool. Connect allows you to view the online parish directory in one location, either on your computer or on your phone:

Computer – click on the top left of your screen – Emmanuel Episcopal Church Realm. A MINISTRY Hub dropdown will provide the option for Connect. Click on Connect, then click on Directory to view the Directory. From here, you can select anyone in the directory to view their information or open a Chat with them

Phone - The CONNECT app is available from the Apple Store or Google Play. Login credentials are the same as for the Computer login
